Prophet (saw) and Companions' suffering

Last class we talked about the persecution that the companions had to endure for the sake of holding on strong to Islam, and for the sake of their duty of sharing the message of Islam. JUST SHARING IT, they weren't launching huge campaigns but talking to individuals and practicing their religion.

Have you personally suffered persecution for your religion--by this i mean on a personal basis? Share them with us.

What forms of persecution do you think Muslims today are suffering from because of their religion? Provide details, and in ways that they are different or the same than those we discussed in our last class.
